IT Auditor

About This Role

Developing and performing IT audits is the core of this role, which also plays an integral part in the new pension administration replacement and implementation. This position offers the opportunity to develop and create the information technology audit program, suiting someone who enjoys problem-solving, continuous learning, and contributing to organizational improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance security, efficiency, and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Plan internal audits of assigned information system areas
• Update previous audit steps or develop plans for new audits
• Review previous audit plans and recommend updated or expanded audit steps
• Perform internal audits of assigned information system areas, including general controls, pre-implementation of new systems or significant changes to current systems, and other assigned audits
• Document procedures performed and their results
• Follow up on identified exceptions with the process owner to verify agreement
• Determine the root cause of audit exceptions
• Perform walkthroughs
• Obtain and document an understanding of the process and internal controls associated with information system audits or other assigned audits
• Interview process owners and document current processes and internal controls
• Conclude and report on audits performed
• Draft audit findings and reports for review by the Chief Internal Auditor
• Discuss findings with the control operator and department manager
• Provide recommendations to improve processes based on understanding gained during walkthroughs and audit procedures
• Perform special projects, provide management consulting services, and other duties as assigned by the Chief Internal Auditor

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in information technology (IT), accounting, business administration, finance, or a related field
• Two (2) years (24 months) of work experience performing duties comparable to those listed for the Internal Auditor Associate
• Possession of the attributes required for the lower levels of this series
• Thorough knowledge of federal and state laws, rules, and regulations related to internal auditing
• Thorough knowledge of the principles, theories, and practices used in internal auditing and/or a knowledge of those used in specialized area(s)
• Skill in detecting complex violations and non-compliance with laws, regulations, and policies
• Skill in explaining and interpreting complex irregularities
• Skill in preparing complete and accurate reports of complex audits
• Ability to plan, supervise, and evaluate the work activities of other professional auditors and/or serve as a specialist
