Investment Banking Analyst

About This Role

Working closely with senior bankers, global debt syndicate teams, and internal product specialists, this role provides direct exposure to international bond markets, debt financing strategies, client advisory, and live transaction execution. The successful candidate will support the origination and execution of debt financing transactions for Japanese corporations, financial institutions, and sovereign, supranational, and agency (SSA) issuers.

Responsibilities

• Support senior bankers in originating, structuring, and executing debt capital markets transactions for corporate and institutional clients
• Prepare client pitchbooks, market updates, pricing analyses, transaction case studies, and other marketing materials
• Analyze global debt market conditions, funding alternatives, investor demand, and execution considerations to develop financing recommendations
• Assist in developing transaction ideas and debt financing strategies across different currencies and international markets
• Coordinate investor relations activities and investor engagement initiatives for clients
• Support transaction execution by liaising with global syndicate teams, sector bankers, legal advisors, compliance, accountants, and other financial institutions
• Build and maintain relationships with clients and internal stakeholders
• Monitor interest rates, credit spreads, macroeconomic trends, and debt capital markets developments
• Collaborate with international banking teams to deliver financing solutions aligned with client objectives

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or above in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related discipline
• Relevant experience in debt capital markets, investment banking, corporate finance, or the broader financial services industry is advantageous, particularly for Associate-level candidates
• Strong analytical and research capabilities, with an interest in financial markets and fixed-income products
• Ability to analyze market information and translate findings into clear client recommendations
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational and project management skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in both Japanese and English
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines
• Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving abilities
• Proactive, self-motivated attitude with a strong willingness to learn
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to interact with clients and senior professionals
• Strong team-oriented mindset and ability to collaborate across departments and international offices
