About This Role

This investigator role provides a quality investigation service, ensuring the containment of claims spend and delivering excellent service. The role involves setting a culture of best practice within mandated responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Handle all primary validations on claims, including previous insurance checks, interviewing relevant parties, and contacting SAPS
• Retrieve and listen to claims, sales, and client services conversations if any problem is picked up on the claim
• Call for transcriptions
• Send prejudice requests
• Request and attach accident reports, settlement letters, and copies of registration documents
• Attach prejudice requests and other relevant documentation
• Visit scenes and investigate the circumstances
• Assess a range of factual information including the claimant’s background
• Check details with policy holders, witnesses, and other professionals (e.g., police)
• Write reports and collate information
• Present evidence in a forum
• Protect the company from paying out invalid claims
• Arrange payments and any other required services (builders, plumbers, panel beaters etc)
• Give advice on claims
• Liaise with solicitors and negotiate payments
• Decide who is liable
• Keep customers’ policy information updated
• Make sure that vehicles are uplifted to an approved panel beater or Auction Nation
• Ensure vehicle assessor is appointed
• Ensure signoff is dealt with by the reporting Manager

Requirements

• Matric
• Relevant Certificate in Insurance or Investigation
• NQF Level 5 - Higher, Advance or Occupational Certificate or equivalent
