Duties
As a Investigative Specialist, you will:
- Serve as a senior Investigative Specialist for the Investigations Division. Conduct worldwide, extremely sensitive, long and short term investigations involving allegations of the most serious violations and or egregious misconduct involving USCIS senior officials, and other sensitive and high profile investigative matters.
- Perform investigations of extreme complexity, sensitivity, and of importance to USCIS. Plans, directs, and controls specific agency investigations encompassing diverse issues or operations that affect critical aspects or major agency wide programs.
- Confer with, and make recommendations to agency senior management regarding the kinds of investigations that should be pursued, and the recurring types of violations that merit special attention with an aim toward defining, developing, and enhancing the investigative capabilities of the agency.
- Draft and prepare extensive reports of investigation summaries.
- Independently coordinate all international travel and investigative activities with various agencies including but not limited to USCIS, Department of State, DHS Office of International Affairs, DHS Office of Inspector General, and the Department of Justice.
- Conduct investigations, within the parameters of international protocol, brief officials at the highest levels of Government and/or USCIS Management, as to the progress and or results of OSI Investigations.
Qualifications
GS-14: You qualify at the GS-14 level you must possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to the GS-13 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties:
- Handling complex internal affairs investigations program cases;
- Conducting investigations involving alleged government employee misconduct;
- Identifying elements of proof, developing investigative plans and strategies;
- Making recommendations for program improvement.
