Inventory Manager

About This Role

Overseeing the accurate and timely completion of cycle counts, ensuring inventory accuracy, and managing the overall inventory control process within a warehouse environment is the core of this role. This in-person warehouse management position requires hands-on work in varying temperatures and noise levels, coordinating daily cycle count activities, analyzing discrepancies, and collaborating with other departments to improve accuracy. The Inventory Manager ensures all inventory-related processes and direct reports adhere to company policies and standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a structured cycle count schedule to ensure all products are regularly counted
• Monitor and oversee the execution of daily, weekly, and monthly cycle counts to ensure accuracy and compliance with company guidelines
• Identify and prioritize areas for cycle counting based on value, volume, or historical accuracy issues
• Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies by analyzing root causes and implementing corrective actions
• Ensure all adjustments are properly documented, reported, and reflected in inventory records
• Generate and review cycle count reports, highlighting key inventory metrics such as accuracy rates, discrepancies, and trends
• Analyze cycle count results and provide recommendations for process improvements
• Provide regular reports to senior management regarding inventory accuracy, count status, and ongoing issues
• Implement continuous improvement initiatives to reduce errors and enhance inventory accuracy
• Ensure all cycle count and inventory management activities comply with internal audit requirements and external regulations
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all cycle counts and inventory adjustments
• Work with the warehouse team to identify and correct systematic issues causing inventory inaccuracies
• Assist in preparing for and supporting annual physical inventory audits
• Lead and supervise a team of cycle count clerks or inventory control staff
• Provide staff coaching, training, and development opportunities to enhance their skills and efficiency
• Set performance goals for the cycle count team and monitor progress
• Work closely with warehouse supervisors to minimize disruptions to daily operations during cycle counts
• Coordinate with receiving and shipping teams to ensure real-time updates on inventory changes
• Ensure warehouse layouts and product storage practices support accurate cycle counting
• Train and develop warehouse staff on best practices related to cycle counting and inventory control
• Collaborate with other departments (e.g., procurement, shipping, and receiving) to improve inventory control processes
