Role Overview
The Internal Sanitation Technician is responsible for executing sanitation programs that ensure compliance with food safety policies. This role is critical in maintaining hygienic conditions of equipment and facilities to prevent contamination and ensure product safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. We are seeking a detail-oriented individual to join the team for the 2nd shift.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure proper cleaning and sanitizing of all process equipment, conveyors, floors, drains, and facility areas in accordance with Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs) and SQF requirements.
- Adhere strictly to all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and food safety programs.
- Perform sanitation activities in a manner that supports compliance with HACCP plans and preventive controls.
- Safely handle, mix, and use cleaning chemicals in accordance with Safety Data Sheets (SDS), chemical control programs, and PPE requirements.
- Complete and maintain records of all sanitation-related activities accurately, thoroughly, and in real time to support traceability, verification, and audit readiness.
- Conduct pre-operational inspections to verify the cleanliness and readiness of equipment and production areas prior to startup.
- Identify, document, and escalate sanitation deviations, risks, or non-conformances to the department manager and support corrective actions.
- Assist in training new sanitation technicians to ensure consistency in sanitation execution and compliance expectations.
- Participate in third-party audit preparation, including SQF certification audits.
- Promote and maintain a safe, compliant, and organized work environment.
Required Qualifications Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience: At least one year of related experience in food safety or a manufacturing environment is required.
Skills:
- Working knowledge of SQF, HACCP, and GMPs.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow structured procedures.
- Ability to safely work with sanitation chemicals and follow PPE requirements.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and overtime as needed. The current schedule is Wednesday – Sunday, from 1:30 PM to 10:00 PM.
- Must be self-motivated, positive, and dependable.
