Internal Auditor (FinCrime)

About This Role

Internal audits and supporting regulatory audits are at the core of this job, with a focus on financial crime. This role suits a motivated Internal Auditor who is keen to adapt their skills to auditing new subject matter and has a comprehensive understanding of financial crime controls.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute audit programmes under internal policies, regulatory requirements, and professional standards
• Optimise data usage in the audit process to enhance risk understanding and deliver pertinent insights
• Provide input and assist in identifying relevant risks and regulatory requirements for audit scopes
• Interact with staff to obtain a comprehensive understanding of relevant risks, controls, and processes
• Communicate and discuss findings directly with management
• Develop audit reports that identify deficiencies and root causes while providing recommendations that add value
• Conduct research and complete assigned training requirements to maintain professional relevance
• Partner cross-functionally to develop recommendations for process optimisation, internal control, and compliance
• Perform follow-up reviews of deficiencies noted during previous audits
• Monitor audit progress against timelines and manage projects to completion, escalating where required

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in an audit-related role within a regulated financial services environment
• Comprehensive knowledge of the current regulatory environment, including EU money laundering directives, JMLSG, and FATF guidance
• Familiarity with financial crime controls, such as KYC/KYB, due diligence, transaction monitoring, and sanctions screening
• Motivation to learn, grow, and have an immediate impact as part of an expanding team

Nice to have:

• Experience in a fast-paced environment with a focus on execution
• An undergraduate or master's degree in a quantitative discipline
• Proficiency working with and interpreting data using SQL, SAS, or Python
