Internal Auditor

About This Role

An Internal Auditor with experience in financial and operational audits, internal controls, invoice verification, and payment compliance is sought to join a contracting company in the UAE. The role involves reviewing financial transactions and identifying discrepancies and control weaknesses.

Responsibilities

• Review purchase invoices against approved LPOs, GRNs, contracts, timesheets, and supporting documents
• Verify supplier invoices, approvals, and receipt of goods or services before payment processing
• Audit subcontractor payment certificates and invoices against approved LOAs, subcontract agreements, and contractual terms
• Verify advance payment securities, including guarantee cheques and bank guarantees
• Review petty cash, PEMO card transactions, and cheque payments for proper documentation and approval compliance
• Conduct quarterly reviews of VAT input and output transactions and identify discrepancies
• Identify duplicate payments, unsupported expenses, internal control weaknesses, policy deviations, and potential fraud indicators
• Participate in management review meetings to assess controls and recommend process improvements
• Participate in recruitment interviews for finance and stores personnel, assessing their technical competence and suitability

Requirements

• Relevant experience in auditing, preferably within the construction or contracting industry
• Hands-on experience with ERP systems
• Knowledge of invoice verification, subcontractor payments, internal controls, and VAT compliance
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and professional integrity
