Intern in Biology, Pharmacy and Bioengineering

About This Role

This night-shift post on the cardiac ward pairs patient care with mentoring new nurses. This internship involves developing and characterizing an innovative gut-liver on-chip model to better understand drug absorption, metabolism, and elimination mechanisms. The intern will join a multidisciplinary team in experimental pharmacokinetics (ADME) and contribute to a strategic project combining advanced cell biology and microphysiological technologies.

Responsibilities

• Cultivate intestinal and/or hepatic cell models (primary hepatocytes) in an organ-on-chip system
• Characterize the expression and functionality of key transporters and enzymes for absorption and metabolism
• Evaluate model viability and functionality by quantifying intestinal and/or hepatic metabolic biomarkers
• Measure intestinal permeability and/or hepatic clearance in integrated ADME studies

Requirements

• Master 2 level student (or equivalent)
• Background in tissue or biological engineering, biotechnologies, or pharmacy
• Proficiency in cell culture techniques
• Knowledge of pharmacokinetics/ADME is a plus
• Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for writing protocols and reports, analyzing and presenting data
• Statistical analysis and experimental data representation software

Nice to have:

• Knowledge of immunofluorescence, RTqPCR or LCMS
