Interim Accountant

About This Role

This interim accounting opportunity is for an experienced professional to support day-to-day accounting operations, full-cycle accounting activities, and period-end close processes for a publicly listed metals and manufacturing company. The role also involves contributing to an SAP S/4HANA integration project across multiple legal entities.

Responsibilities

• Manage and support full-cycle accounting activities, including journal entries, general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations and accruals
• Support month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial records
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts, investigate discrepancies and resolve outstanding accounting issues
• Assist with financial reporting, variance analysis and the preparation of supporting schedules
• Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure the completeness and accuracy of financial transactions
• Support internal and external audits by preparing working papers, reconciliations and relevant documentation
• Assist with the integration of multiple legal entities into SAP S/4HANA
• Support accounting data migration, validation and reconciliation as part of the SAP integration
• Collaborate with finance and cross-functional teams to address accounting issues and meet reporting deadlines

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of hands-on accounting experience, including full-cycle accounting and month-end close
• Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, journal entries, account reconciliations and accruals
• Hands-on experience with SAP
• Experience supporting financial reporting and period-end close activities
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently, take ownership of accounting activities and deliver accurate results in a deadline-driven environment

Nice to have:

• Exposure to SAP S/4HANA
• Previous experience in manufacturing, metals, mining or another complex, multi-entity environment
• Experience with ERP implementations, system integrations or accounting data migration
• CPA/CA designation

Important Details

• Work arrangement: Hybrid – 3 days per week in the office
• Contract: 6-month contract, with the possibility of extension
