Integration Developer

About This Role

Integrating and connecting the company's technology ecosystem is the core of this development role. The Integration Developer will build, enhance, and support core APIs and microservices for Property & Casualty systems, ensuring reliable data flow and contributing to system modernization. This role suits an intellectually curious mid-level developer with strong backend C# fundamentals who wants to deepen their hands-on experience with modern microservices, containerized deployments, and AI-assisted development workflows.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and deploy maintainable microservices, REST APIs, and integration components connecting core P&C applications
• Work closely with senior developers to expand the catalog of decoupled backend services and adopt containerized deployment practices
• Assist in troubleshooting, maintaining, and enhancing existing integration workflows to ensure system performance and data integrity
• Utilize AI-assisted development practices (e.g., leveraging AI tools for coding, unit testing, and debugging) to increase daily productivity and code quality
• Translate functional requirements into technical specs, participate in code reviews, and work with senior team members to provide accurate development estimates

Requirements

• 2+ years of hands-on backend software development experience focused on API development, C#, and relational databases
• Solid working knowledge of C# and modern .NET frameworks (with a focus on staying current with modern Microsoft releases like .NET 8/10)
• Familiarity with microservice concepts, RESTful API design, database structures, and asynchronous messaging patterns
• A natural drive to dig into complex systems, understand how things work at a fundamental level, and continuously learn new technologies and engineering practices
• Adaptability working across integration technologies spanning different framework generations as system requirements dictate
• Exposure to or interest in container technologies (e.g., Docker) and learning containerized deployment pipelines
• Practical understanding of standard software engineering practices, including Git, automated unit testing, CI/CD, and developer productivity tools

• Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
• Work format: onsite at Hastings, Michigan headquarters; hybrid arrangement; or remote from Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, or Wisconsin (additional states may be considered)
