Intake Clinician - Behavioral Health

About This Role

Supporting individuals as they begin their treatment and recovery journeys, the Intake Clinician conducts clinical screenings and level-of-care assessments, coordinates admissions, and connects individuals with appropriate behavioral health and substance use treatment services. This role suits a clinically skilled, organized professional committed to helping clients access timely, appropriate care while collaborating with internal teams, community partners, and referral sources.

Responsibilities

• Conduct clinical screenings, evaluations, and level-of-care assessments to determine appropriate treatment recommendations
• Facilitate admissions to appropriate levels of care using LOCUS and/or ASAM criteria
• Identify and coordinate referrals to community resources and external service providers based on client needs
• Complete all required assessment, admission, and clinical documentation, including NCTOPPS, authorizations, person-centered plans (PCPs), and crisis plans
• Coordinate admission pre-certifications and authorizations with funding sources
• Collaborate with facility staff and clinical teams to support effective treatment planning and program implementation
• Provide coverage for other evaluation counselors in the region as requested by the supervisor
• Maintain a small caseload and facilitate weekly group therapy sessions
• Provide assessment services to referral sources, including juvenile justice centers, county jails, and other forensic, mental health, and community-based settings
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with clinical, regulatory, and organizational requirements
• Complete all required training and continuing education hours as applicable

Requirements

• Master ’s degree from an accredited college or university in social work, counseling, psychology, chemical dependency, or a related field
• Active North Carolina licensure of at least LCSW-A, LCMHC-A, or higher is required
• Must already be licensed in North Carolina at the required level
• Experience in mental health and/or substance use treatment services is preferred
• Experience conducting clinical assessments, determining levels of care, and coordinating admissions is preferred
