About the role

Duties
In this position, you will serve as an Insurance Examiner. Typical assignments include:

  • Conducting Underwriting and Policy Administration Operation Reviews at Write-Your-Own (WYO) Company offices, of policies issued by WYO companies, to assure the correct rating and proper handling of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) by these companies.
  • Providing guidance to the NFIP contractors concerning the acceptance and rating of flood insurance policies.
  • Reviewing and determining specific ratings for new building in Flood Hazard Areas where the construction is at an elevation below the minimum requirement and the rates are not published in the Flood Insurance Manual.
  • Researching and preparing written responses to policy coverage from insureds, agents, mortgage lenders, members of Congress, and other sources to establish whether or not property is insured and the correct amount of insurance coverage has been applied.
  • Maintaining liaison with the NFIP contractor, insurance agents and mortgage lenders in order to provide immediate clarification of coverage under the flood insurance policies.
