Job Title: Insurance Coverage & Bad Faith Litigation Attorney (100% Remote)

About the Opportunity
An elite, highly regarded civil litigation defense firm founded in 1993 is seeking skilled Civil Litigation Attorneys and experienced Insurance Coverage / Bad Faith Defense Counsel to join its expanding statewide practice. Recognized nationally as a go-to defense authority for complex extra-contractual and bad faith claims, the firm represents leading carriers and businesses in high-stakes disputes.
This position offers complete work-from-home autonomy across California, high-exposure substantive casework, flexible billable arrangements, and direct mentorship in a prestigious, recession-proof area of defense litigation.
Core Responsibilities
- Manage and defend complex insurance coverage disputes, extra-contractual claims, and bad faith litigation.
- Draft substantive pleadings, Demurrers, Motions for Summary Judgment (MSJs), and legal briefs.
- Conduct detailed policy analysis, coverage opinions, and exposure evaluations.
- Oversee discovery, subpoenas, record reviews, and case strategy.
- Prepare for and participate in depositions, mediations, and court appearances.
Qualifications
- Education & Licensure: J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and an active license in good standing with the State Bar of California .
- Experience Level: Insurance Coverage / Bad Faith Attorney: 3+ years of focused coverage or bad faith defense experience.
- Civil Litigation Attorney: 3+ years of general civil litigation defense experience with a strong desire to learn insurance coverage/bad faith practice.
- Key Skills: Proven proficiency in substantive motion drafting (demurrers, dispositive motions, legal memoranda) and strong legal research capabilities.
- Work Ethic: Strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.
Salary and Other Compensation
The annual salary for this position is between $170,000 – $300,000 . Factors which may affect pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
Additional Compensation & Bonus Programs:
- Flexible Billable Structure: Flexible billable target of 1,800–2,000 hours per year, with scale-up compensation options for higher billable production.
- Merit-Based Discretionary Bonuses: Real-time performance bonuses awarded based on merit and exceptional work quality (e.g., up to $20,000 potential within the first 6 months).
