Role Overview This
Float Technician position supports three key workflows within a comprehensive cancer center: Ambulatory Infusion, Investigational Drug Services, and Specialty Retail. The role involves preparing medications, assisting with dispensing and compounding, managing inventory, and maintaining documentation to ensure quality and regulatory compliance. The technician acts as a resource for complex issues, trains staff, and supports workflow and process improvements across pharmacy operations.
Responsibilities
- Ensure quality assurance standards and regulatory compliance are met.
- Assist in medication preparation, dispensing, sterile/non-sterile compounding, and inventory management.
- Support system maintenance, process improvements, and staff training.
- Develop proficiency in complex compounding and automated systems.
- Serve as a departmental resource, handling complex questions and tasks within pharmacy operations.
Qualifications & Skills
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 2-5 years of experience; 5-10 years preferred.
- Licensed as a Pharmacy Technician in Illinois and Missouri; certification required.
- Strong knowledge of pharmacy procedures, medication safety, and inventory management.
- Ability to perform complex compounding and utilize electronic/automated systems.
