Information Technology Specialist (Security)

Duties

  ·  Serves as an Information Security (INFOSEC) administrator required to conduct Information Assurance Vulnerability Assessment (IAVM) network security scanning of systems throughout the Regional Network Enterprise Center (RNEC) area of responsibility (AOR)

   ·  Supports the IA policy development by recommending, implementing, and enforcing cyber security compliance during and after the introduction of IT network systems and devices onto the RNEC network

   ·  Ensures the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems, networks, and data through the development, implementation, and enhancement of information systems security programs

   · Provides Command, Control, Communications and Computer Information Management (C4IM) customer service support to regional and installation users

Qualifications

Experience required: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: conducting analysis resulting from Cyber Security violations, unexplained information systems performance anomalies and incidents, and/or classified data spills; and upgrading a variety of protective network appliances and applications such as firewalls, intrusion detection and protection systems, wireless intrusions detection system, web filtering devices and other similar devices. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:

   ·  Knowledge of network operations, configurations and protocols

   ·  Skill in Analytical Methods and Procedures

   ·  Ability to communicate orally and in writing

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the GS-11 grade (or equivalent).
