Information Technology Specialist (NETWORK)

Duties
You will serve as an Information Technology (IT) Specialist (NETWORK) administrator working under the general supervision of the Chief, Networks Operations Branch, for the Network Enterprise Center (NEC). Responsible for providing Command, Control, Communications and Computer Information Management (C4IM) customer services support to regional and installation users for ensuring IT functions and requirements are met and provided to satisfactory levels. You will apply intermediate to advanced level network competencies in difficult situations requiring little guidance for ensuring the installation, configuration, maintenance, and support of the classified/unclassified Installation Campus Area Network (ICAN), wide area network (WAN), Local Area Networks (LAN), End User Building (EUB), and Internet systems or segments of supported networks including associated ancillary equipment. Monitors network to ensure availability of services to all Army network enterprise users and performs necessary maintenance to support network continuity. Performs functions applicable network modeling, change management, analysis, planning, and coordination between network and data communications hardware and software. Supports project management functions such as identifying new requirements to meet day-to-day and future mission networks requirements for the installation networks/communications modernization and long term life cycle meeting NEC management and higher Headquarters' regulatory requirements. May administer network cyber-security measures supporting the integrity of network systems and data including but not limited to information systems security programs, policies, procedures, and tools at JBSA – FSH.

Qualifications

Basic Requirement:
IT-related experience which demonstrates each of the four competencies as defined:

Specialized Experience required:
To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: Experience that involves with Firewalls, Local Area Network (LAN) and Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) telecommunication systems; ability to interpret technical data to analyze and devise solutions to complex IT problems; knowledge of LAN software and equipment technology and the ability to assemble, correlate and interpret a variety of technical data and to analyze the implications, project trends and apply conclusions.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:

• Knowledge of Information Technology Policies and Procedures
• Skill in communication

Time in Grade Requirement:
Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade (or equivalent).
