About This Role
This Information Technology Engineer role focuses on architecting and providing expert-level support and strategy for the production Windows server environment. The position involves proactive performance monitoring, day-to-day support activities, administration, and projects related to Windows infrastructure and applications.
Responsibilities
- Support a trading environment consisting of Windows 2016/2019/2022 servers
- Be actively involved in the planning and implementation of new projects
- Proactively monitor virtual environment for capacity, stress, risk, and workload and take necessary remediation steps
- Build and support Microsoft Failover clusters and work with stretch clusters
- Maintain the Windows environment in the Americas Region for all business lines
- Interface with vendors and internal global teams to ensure the environment conforms to current standards
- Manage Business Continuance in relation to Disaster Recovery
- Maintain system high reliability, availability, and resiliency levels
- Provide 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Level Support for the production environments
- Perform proactive system performance monitoring (using Geneos, Dynatrace HP/DELL/IBM) and capacity management
- Perform system upgrades and mandatory security/OS patching
- Liaise with application support teams to gather requirements, design, and deploy standard systems
- Implement projects for all business lines
- Provide 24x7 on-call support based on rotation within the team
- Perform thorough morning checks on all critical applications using existing tools or scripts
- Strictly abide by and follow company policy and procedures pertaining to change and incident management
- Ensure that all systems are deployed consistent with group standards and best practices
- Take ownership of incident and problem management and work with the team to resolve production-related issues
- Follow group's standard security practices within the environment
- Maintain an accurate and current inventory
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience preferred
- Expert knowledge of Windows OS (2022/2019/2016/2012) and Windows 2022/2019/2016/2012 Enterprise components and technologies such as Domains, DNS, Registries, DHCP/WINS
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft cluster technologies and strategies: server cluster, network, and component load balancing
- Strong knowledge of Active Directory
- Good knowledge of VMWare vSphere and associated products (e.g., vCenter, SRM)
- Strong knowledge of performance management and capacity planning
- Strong knowledge of SAN / EMC storage including the different SRDF types
