Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Infection Prevention Specialist I to join our Organizational Excellence team at our Jackson, MI facility. In this full-time, day-shift position, you will play a vital role in protecting our patients, staff, and visitors by implementing and maintaining comprehensive infection prevention and control measures. You will work collaboratively with clinical and administrative teams to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and drive organizational excellence in infection prevention practices.

  • Develop, implement, and monitor infection prevention and control protocols aligned with CDC guidelines and regulatory requirements
  • Conduct facility assessments and audits to identify potential infection risks and areas for improvement
  • Analyze infection prevention data and trends to identify patterns, investigate outbreaks, and recommend corrective actions
  • Collaborate with clinical departments to provide education and training on infection prevention best practices and procedures
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of infection prevention activities, compliance metrics, and audit findings
  • Coordinate with infection prevention committees and leadership to develop and refine organizational policies and procedures
  • Respond to infection prevention concerns and incidents with prompt investigation and appropriate follow-up
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders through reports, presentations, and meetings
  • Stay current with evolving infection prevention standards, guidelines, and emerging infectious disease threats
  • Support quality improvement initiatives focused on reducing healthcare-associated infections

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge of infection prevention and control principles and practices
  • Strong understanding of CDC guidelines, OSHA regulations, and other relevant healthcare compliance standards
  • Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and interpretation of infection prevention metrics
  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills with meticulous attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to engage diverse stakeholder groups
  • Ability to conduct assessments, audits, and investigations in a systematic and thorough manner
  • Fundamental knowledge of epidemiological principles and outbreak investigation methodology
  • Experience coordinating with clinical and administrative teams in a healthcare setting
  • Proficiency with healthcare information systems and electronic documentation tools
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Preferred: Experience with quality improvement initiatives and process optimization
  • Preferred: Experience developing and delivering training programs on infection prevention topics
  • Preferred: Familiarity with infection prevention surveillance systems and reporting tools
