About the role

A day in this role

Start your shift by reviewing work orders with the Maintenance Supervisor, then head to the floor to keep our plant powered and safe. You’ll use meters and test instruments to verify electrical integrity, dive into PLC logic to troubleshoot control issues, and keep motors, process pumps, and building systems running to spec. Midday might find you pulling wire, bending conduit, or swapping a faulty breaker; later, you’ll document preventive maintenance, tidy your work area, and brief the team on any irregularities you spotted.

Core responsibilities

  • Construct, install, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot electrical systems and components across motors, process pumps and controls, PLCs, and building/construction and material-handling equipment.
  • Maintain, test, and repair electrical circuits and equipment to ensure compatibility and component safety.
  • Install and service building electrical per National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements.
  • Execute preventive maintenance on electrical apparatus, equipment, facilities, and systems; record all PM activity.
  • Measure, cut, and bend wire and conduit using appropriate hand and power tools.
  • Repair/replace switches, fuses, contactors, controls, motors, breakers, and related hardware.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and repair or replace defective parts; escalate and notify the supervisor of irregularities per procedure.
  • Coordinate area activities with the central maintenance shop; assist maintenance technicians and engineers as needed.
  • Periodically direct lower-classified craft personnel and train other craftspersons as assigned.
  • Follow all safety rules; maintain a clean, orderly workspace and return tools, unused materials, and references to their locations.

Tools, materials, and environments you’ll handle

  • Electrical testing instruments; manual and power hand tools; tube benders; splicing tools; wire-pulling equipment.
  • Wire, contactors, switches, motors, breakers, fuses, and other electrical hardware.
  • Process equipment and chemicals in an industrial plant setting.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; relevant trade/technical school education in industrial electrical maintenance may count toward the experience requirement.
  • Five (5) years in the electrical craft, including at least three (3) years focused on industrial electrical maintenance.
