This Industrial Engineer position is for a professional who will optimize manufacturing processes and costs for high-speed electrical connectors. The role involves strategic planning, cost analysis, and troubleshooting design for manufacturability issues within a global manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
Develop operations plans, assembly line rationalization, capital expenditure, and manpower projections
Aid in the development of strategic plans for New Product Introduction (NPI) and product modifications
Work closely with marketing to determine project forecasts and process scope
Understand relative financial formulations
Perform cost-benefit analysis and evaluate alternative design implications
Compare vendor vs. in-house manufacturing costs
Compare in-house to quoted costs and explain probable material consumption and process differences
Perform competitive analysis by reverse engineering competitor's product to produce a probable process and cost
Think abstractly and reasonably to realistically estimate unknowns
Conduct gap analysis: predicted vs. actual cost and optimizing process parameters
Evaluate utility, AFOQ implications, capital payback, and business cases
Manage current vs. entitlement cost for cost reduction
Implement second sourcing and supply chain geo-diversity, including sourcing materials from different suppliers and manufacturing in different countries
Quantify process implications of competing and variable manufacturing processes, including Stamping, Plating, Laser Welding, Adhesives, Multi-Shot Injection Molding, Manual Assembly, and custom designed Automated Assembly systems
Troubleshoot Design for Manufacturability issues including manufacturing hand-off issues, capacity bottlenecks, staffing issues, line balancing, and general use equipment requirements
Recommend product and process design changes to optimize product function, minimize cost, and streamline manufacturing
Communicate and coordinate process implications with the broader design and marketing team members as well as management
Work in an environment critical and challenging of your work at times
