About This Role
Developing innovative performance concepts for new lighting and electronic-based controls is the core of this role, coordinating the appearance and functionality of product offerings. This position suits an Industrial Designer with a proven track record in product development and design, who can originate and develop ideas for manufactured products.
Responsibilities
- Develop innovative performance concepts for both new lighting and electronic-based controls
- Coordinate the appearance and functionality of product offering
- Originate and develop ideas to design the form and function of manufactured products
- Consult with Engineering, Marketing, Production and Sales to establish design concepts
- Provide drafting and illustrations of potential products, including intended performance and utility
- Evaluate design ideas based on factors such as architectural appearance, design functionality, serviceability, materials and methods engineering, application, budget, price, manufacturing costs and methods of production
- Present designs to both Sales and Management to discuss applicability and functionality
- Control costs through the efficient and effective utilization of processes, materials, equipment and time
- Recommend policies and procedures that will result in the timely, accurate and cost-effective projection of engineering and manufacturing documentation
- Perform at a high level of accuracy, seeking error-free work
- Perform work that is comprehensive in scope and complete in detail
- Continually seek new technologies, methods, procedures, and techniques that will result in the timelier and efficient projection of documentation and/or lighting products, design and sales components
- Maintain a close working relationship with the operations and engineering teams in assuring that operations are not hampered by a lack of instructions or understanding
Requirements
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design or Industrial Engineering
- Experience in lighting product design required
- Familiarity in manufacturing processes
- 5-10 years of experience in Industrial Design/Development
- Must have proven track record in product development and design
- Knowledge of materials, fabrication, processes, tooling, equipment utilization, and quality control standards common to the lighting industry is required
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks programs or equivalent
- Good communication skills
