About the role
Position Overview As an Inbound Transportation Manager, you will manage a team of transportation professionals in facilitating freight shipments while maximizing margin and providing signature service. Manager will have a primary focus on revenue growth opportunities, strategic planning and projects, as well as team development to increase efficiency and service, margin, vendor/carrier (3rd Party, Dedicated, and Non-Dedicated) relationships.
Job Description
- Own P&L performance for areas of responsibility. This includes forecasting weekly performance, identifying actions to address shortfalls, and understanding and explaining variances.
- Manage and facilitate revenue growth activity through efforts of customer pickup review/negotiations and tariff reviews. Develop short and long term strategies and other business opportunities to meet current and future years' business objectives
- Coach and develop team members on overall transportation industry knowledge, financial objectives, and carrier management to make well informed business and financial decisions. Align team member goals with the strategic vision of the organization.
- Develop and grow strategic carrier relationships to continuously maximize capacity, rate, and service; this includes holding regular business reviews, communicating expectations, and holding each other accountable.
- Oversee and execute carrier sourcing efforts to maximize the resources needed to support expected volume, promoting net income growth and driving service objectives; as well as leading sourcing efforts for future growth activity.
