Immunization Epidemiologist

About This Role

Supporting the programs in the Division of Immunization, the Immunization Epidemiologist analyzes and provides data to meet program needs and evaluations aimed at alleviating adverse health outcomes and promoting public health in Michigan. This role involves conducting data management and analysis, as well as developing reports and dashboards on immunization and vaccine-preventable diseases.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, interpret, and disseminate data from the Michigan Care Improvement Registry (MCIR) to identify pockets of need and immunization levels by antigen.
• Collaborate with the Division of Data Systems on data quality in the Michigan Care Improvement Registry.
• Disseminate findings and implications of data analysis projects through peer-reviewed publications, professional conferences, and seminars.
• Collaborate with organizations and researchers interested in using MCIR data.
• Analyze data for immunization issues from other sources, such as Behavioral Risk Factor Surveys and Medicaid databases.
• Develop national, regional, and Michigan-specific summaries of data in annual immunization surveys.
• Conduct analysis of immunization recommendations and ad hoc requests across the lifespan.
• Participate in public speaking events and attend CDC site visits and required grant events.
• Maintain positive professional relationships with all Division of Immunization staff and represent the best interests of MCIR and MPHI.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Possession of a master’s degree in public health, epidemiology, health informatics, or biostatistics.
• Preferred two years’ experience in epidemiology, project management, and research/evaluation methods.
• Experience with data analysis software (e.g., SAS, R, MS Excel) required.
• Experience with data visualization software (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) required.
• Understanding of relevant epidemiologic and statistical principles.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Positive and motivated-to-learn attitude.
• Excellent speaking, organizational, and writing skills.
