About the role
This requisition is for a dedicated and highly skilled Nurse to join our Critical Care (ICU) team within the Nursing Department. The ideal candidate must be experienced in managing critically ill patients, utilizing advanced monitoring technologies, and providing specialized, life-sustaining care in a high-acuity Healthcare environment. Experience within an ICU setting is essential
Critical Care and Monitoring
- Advanced Assessment: Conduct frequent, comprehensive patient assessments, including neurological status, hemodynamic stability, respiratory function, and pain levels, recognizing subtle changes indicative of deterioration.
- Intervention Management: Initiate and manage complex interventions, including mechanical ventilation, titration of vasoactive drips, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), and invasive monitoring lines (e.g., CVP, arterial lines).
- Emergency Response: Rapidly and effectively respond to medical emergencies (e.g., cardiac arrest, septic shock), actively participating in code situations and ensuring the timely preparation and administration of life-saving medications.
- Medication Safety: Accurately administer complex medication regimens, including IV infusions and critical care medications, and maintain meticulous records of all inputs and outputs.
Documentation and Collaboration
- Detailed Charting: Maintain accurate, timely, and complete electronic or paper documentation reflecting patient status, interventions performed, and physician orders, adhering strictly to Healthcare standards.
- Multidisciplinary Teamwork: Collaborate effectively with intensivists, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other specialists to develop and execute comprehensive care plans.
- Handover: Provide clear, concise, and structured shift reports/handovers to the oncoming Nursing staff, focusing on critical changes and pending interventions.
Family Support and Ethics
- Emotional Support: Provide compassionate and sensitive support to patients and their families during highly stressful and emotional situations, facilitating communication with the medical team.
- Ethical Compliance: Ensure patient advocacy and maintain strict adherence to ethical guidelines and patient confidentiality in all aspects of ICU care.
