As the  Hydrogen Upstream Business Development Lead (m/f/d) within our Energy & H2 Europe organization, you will drive the identification, planning, and execution of hydrogen production projects in Europe. This includes greenfield development, strategic partnerships, and investment evaluation. You will help shape Hyundai’s upstream hydrogen strategy and play a central role in building our future European energy footprint.

We want you to:

  • Analyze European hydrogen markets with a focus on upstream opportunities.
  • Evaluate local policies, Hyundai Motor Group’s hydrogen strategies, and our product portfolio to identify new business opportunities across Europe.
  • Coordinate closely with business affiliates and our mid- and downstream efforts to ensure alignment and maximize value creation
  • Build and strengthen partnerships with external companies, fostering collaboration and incubating pilot projects in hydrogen production.
  • Conduct preliminary feasibility studies, investment evaluations, and financial modeling to ensure strategic and economic viability.
  • Collaborate with regional and global stakeholders to validate business plans and lead implementation.
  • Analyze and negotiate business structuring strategies – including alliances and equity investments - to optimize CAPEX and long-term returns.
  • Negotiate contract conditions and coordinate with internal stakeholders on drafting and review of legal documents.

About you:

  • Degree in Engineering or Business (or equivalent qualification)
  • 8+ years of post-graduate experience in business development within the energy or hydrogen sector.
  • Solid understanding of the hydrogen market and business opportunities within production projects
  • Strong knowledge of European regulatory and compliance frameworks for hydrogen
  • Proven project management capabilities
  • Experience with working in a global matrixed organization
  • Strong understanding of business case development and financial feasibility analysis
  • Business-fluent English, fluent German is an advantage
