About the Opportunity

We are seeking experienced HVAC Mechanics to support HVAC and refrigeration systems within medical treatment facilities at Eglin Air Force Base .

This is a hands-on opportunity for an experienced HVAC professional responsible for troubleshooting, repairs, installations, and preventive/corrective maintenance of HVAC and refrigeration systems. The role requires strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, attention to safety, and the ability to work effectively in a healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration systems, including AHUs, fan coil units, DX units, fans, air conditioning equipment, and system controls.
• Troubleshoot, repair, install, and maintain HVAC/refrigeration equipment according to OEM specifications.
• Perform AHU maintenance, including filter, bearing, motor, and belt replacement and proper alignment.
• Monitor HVAC system performance and support the Building Automation System (BAS) .
• Maintain and repair temperature tracking system field devices.
• Complete corrective maintenance and preventive maintenance work orders accurately and on time using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
• Maintain required equipment and maintenance documentation and track refrigerant usage in accordance with applicable requirements.
• Participate in HVAC shutdown testing involving duct smoke detectors.
• Perform maintenance on air conditioning units, fans, air handlers, water heaters, converters, ductwork, and system controls.
• Read and interpret architectural and mechanical drawings, manufacturer submittals, manuals, and technical literature.
• Specify and order replacement parts and materials as needed.
• Coordinate inspections, repairs, and installations while minimizing disruption to facility operations.
• Work with other trades and vendors as needed.
• Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and applicable safety and quality standards.
• Follow infectious-control policies and procedures applicable to healthcare facilities.
• Participate in weekly toolbox safety meetings.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of applicable HVAC experience , including experience in healthcare facilities .
• Current HVAC license or military journeyman-level qualification (Level 5 or higher documented on DD214).
• Current EPA 608 Universal / CFC certification in accordance with applicable refrigerant regulations.
• Certification through a nationally recognized HVAC certification program.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to read and understand architectural and mechanical drawings.
• Ability to interpret manufacturer submittals, manuals, and technical literature.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Ability to specify and order equipment parts and materials.
• Ability to understand and follow healthcare infectious-control procedures.
• OSHA 10 General Industry Safety & Health certification required; training will be provided.

Preferred / Plus

• Experience with kitchen equipment such as kitchen hoods, refrigerators, freezers, and steam tables.
• Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS).
• Experience working in medical or healthcare facilities.
