Duties
As an HVAC Equipment Mechanic, WG-5301-10 Potential WG-11, you will install, maintain, repair, and modify large heating (includes heating boilers and single and multiple fuel power boilers), ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC/R) systems and support equipment including electrical/mechanical system controls and distribution lines. You will also:
-Gain experience to be able to fully perform all duties at journeyman level.
At the full performance level as an HVAC Equipment Mechanic, WG-5301-11, you will install, maintain, repair, and modify large/complex heating (includes heating boilers and single and multiple fuel power boilers), ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC/R) systems and support equipment including electronic/mechanical systems controls and distribution lines.
-Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC systems and equipment and troubleshoot HVAC systems with complex problems and extensive repairs requiring judgment to locate malfunctions.
Perform essential electrical/electronic work incidental to the maintenance and operation of HVAC systems.
Plan and lay out work from blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, guides, codes, and work orders and utilize safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean work environment.
Install, modify, overhaul, repair, and maintain a variety of complex heating boilers and/or heating systems (single and multiple fuel power boilers, and associated auxiliary and pollution control equipment).
Install, modify, repair, and maintain large commercial and industrial ventilation, refrigeration, air conditioning (AC), and cooling systems with complex problems and extensive repairs.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position a specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence of experience, which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position, must be supported by detailed descriptions of your experience on your on-line resume.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience, but you must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held.
IMPORTANT NOTE: THIS DEVELOPMENTAL POSITION WILL BE FILLED AT THE ENTRY LEVEL GRADE (WG-10).
It is targeted though to the final full-performance level of WG-11. Promotion to the next higher grade is contingent upon the employee being fully qualified at the next lower level.
