About the role

Duties

This position is located in the Human Resources Office – Central Team located at the Midwest Regional Office in Omaha, Nebraska.  You will provide technical advice to Park Manager/Staff in the areas of recruitment, staffing, position management, classification, compensation, pay administration and personnel procedures.  This position requires substantial resourcefulness and experienced judgment to evaluate and coordinate in all of the areas listed above.  You will work closely with other members of the Central Team and provide advice and technical support to lower graded positions.

Physical Demands: The work is sedentary. Some work may require periods of standing, carrying of files or pamphlets and supplies. Incumbent may be required to travel to different parks/offices to provide HR services as needed.

Work Environment: Work is performed in an office setting that is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated.

 

Qualifications

All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement 11:pm (ET), Monday, June 05, 2017.  To qualify for this position, you must demonstrate that you possess either the specialized experience or the education as described below. Equivalent combinations of experience and education may also be used to qualify. Errors or omissions may affect your rating. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sectors.

GS-9:

Specialized Experience:  To qualify for this position at the GS-9 level, applicants must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes performance of the full range of human resource duties in at least two of the following areas: staffing, position management, pay administration, benefits, and processing. The work at this level should have included providing advisory services to supervisors and managers in the functional areas assigned. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the federal service and equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position.

Education: Have a master's or equivalent graduate degree, or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in one or a combination of the following fields: human resources management, public administration, business administration, finance, personnel law, industrial management, quantitative methods, organization and management, or LL.B or J.D., if related.

Combination of Qualifying Education and Experience: Have an equivalent combination of education and experience. For example, I have six months of specialized experience (50% of the experience requirements) and 45 semester hours or 68 quarter hours of graduate education as described above (50% of the education requirement).
