Responsibilities The Personnel Specialist will undertake a variety of responsibilities to support Navy personnel and ensure operational efficiency. Key duties include:
- Providing counseling and guidance related to Navy occupations, educational opportunities, and job training programs to enlisted Sailors.
- Advising Sailors on promotion criteria, rights, benefits, and career advancement opportunities.
- Conducting interviews with personnel to assess assignment suitability and recommend appropriate placements.
- Assisting Sailors and their families with personal hardships, relocations, and other support services.
- Managing the Career Information Program at the duty station, ensuring accurate and up-to-date career development information is available.
- Maintaining and updating Enlisted Service Records to reflect career progress and administrative changes.
- Supporting personnel transfers, separations, and retirement processes, ensuring compliance with Navy policies and procedures.
- Serving as a cashier for the Navy, managing financial transactions, and maintaining ATMs aboard ships and at shore stations.
The role demands meticulous attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently. The Personnel Specialist must also stay informed about Navy policies and programs to provide accurate and timely assistance to personnel.
