HR Specialist

About This Role

Helping people work, learn, and grow is the core of this HR Specialist role. You will be the point of contact for employees and management, recruit new talent, contribute to the company culture, and help make the organization more effective. The role involves ensuring HR fundamentals are in order, from contracts to payroll, and making international technical professionals feel welcome in the Netherlands.

Responsibilities

• Actively contribute to Alquion's culture across two locations and diverse international teams
• Identify interpersonal dynamics, address tensions proactively, and foster connection and harmony within and between teams
• Translate organizational and external signals into improvement plans and concrete activities, then advise on and execute them
• Shape Learning & Development by identifying development needs, organizing training, and supporting employee growth
• Support managers in the performance cycle and in conducting effective development and appraisal interviews
• Contribute to the job and salary structure of a rapidly growing organization
• Serve as the primary contact for employees and managers regarding HR questions, proactively advising on terms of employment, contracts, absenteeism, and development
• Manage the recruitment process from job description and sourcing to selection and offer, in close collaboration with hiring managers
• Ensure a positive candidate experience, strengthen the employer brand, and maintain contacts with recruitment partners and relevant networks
• Guide new international colleagues from offer to their first day, including applying for residence permits as highly skilled migrants with the IND, managing the 30% ruling, and assisting with practical matters for their start in the Netherlands
• Ensure HR and payroll administration is in order, from onboarding and offboarding to monthly payroll processing, in collaboration with the payroll provider and Finance
• Oversee the absenteeism process according to the Wet verbetering poortwachter (Gatekeeper Improvement Act)
• Prepare HR reports and analyses, such as headcount and absenteeism, and translate them into recommendations for management

Requirements

• Completed HBO or university education, preferably in HRM, Personnel & Labor, Business Administration, or Labor Law
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience as an HR professional, preferably in a technical and international environment where you held ultimate responsibility for your function
• Fluent in Dutch and English, both spoken and written
• Strong understanding of Dutch labor law, including employment law, the Wet DBA, and the Wet verbetering poortwachter
• Ability to work project-based, for example in Learning & Development or cultural initiatives
