HR Specialist

About This Role

The HR Specialist reports to the Manager, HR Operations and supports day-to-day HR functions, ensuring a seamless employee experience throughout the employee lifecycle. This role primarily leads corporate onboarding, coordinates and supports offboarding, responds to HR inquiries, supports employee engagement initiatives, processes employee lifecycle changes, and maintains appropriate SOPs and HR documentation. This position suits a proactive, curious, and detail-oriented candidate with the ability to work independently, identify gaps, anticipate downstream impacts, and take ownership of issues through resolution.

Responsibilities

• Lead and facilitate the corporate new hire onboarding program, partnering with key stakeholders to ensure a consistent and seamless new hire experience
• Proactively monitor onboarding activities, timelines, and stakeholder follow up to identify and resolve gaps, delays, or issues that may impact the new hire experience
• Coordinate employee offboarding activities, including communications, processing in Workday, sending transition details, and cross-functional termination notifications
• Support HR programs and initiatives, including employee engagement, recognition, HR technology, and process improvement efforts
• Maintain HRIS records by entering new hires, promotions, and other employee lifecycle changes, and prepare HR data and reports as needed
• Manage the HR email inbox by providing timely, accurate responses to employee and manager inquiries and escalating complex or sensitive matters as appropriate
• Serve as a point of contact for employees and managers regarding HR processes, policies, systems, benefits, and employee lifecycle matters, providing guidance and escalating issues as appropriate
• Support the administration of employee pulse surveys, including launch coordination, participant management, communications, reminders, and reporting support
• Respond to employment verification requests, support unemployment claim responses, and assist with other HR-related inquiries
• Administer the employee education assistance program and support related employee benefits and program inquiries
• Prepare HR reports, trackers, and presentation materials as needed to support HR operations and leadership
• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to help drive the mission of improving the lives of everyone living with cancer

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience considered
• Minimum 2 years of Human Resources experience, preferably within HR Operations, onboarding, employee experience, or a related function
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience using HRIS or HR technology platforms; Workday experience preferred
• Experience supporting employee onboarding and/or offboarding programs strongly preferred
• Demonstrate integrity, professionalism, and discretion at all times
• Identify issues, consider downstream impacts, and determine appropriate next steps
