About This Role

This HR Consultant role is an opportunity to help shape the next chapter in Sandwell's transformation, working on a diverse portfolio that combines complex employee relations with organisational design and workforce change projects. The role suits an experienced HR professional who is passionate about supporting managers, navigating complex people challenges, and influencing positive outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Advise senior managers on complex disciplinary or capability matters
• Help shape new service structures
• Support transformation programmes
• Contribute to strategic workforce solutions that directly impact services and communities
• Provide pragmatic, professional, and solution-focused HR support to managers across the Council
• Work closely with HR Business Partners, managers, Trade Unions and stakeholders to help services manage workforce challenges
• Deliver change and create positive working environments where people can thrive

Requirements

• Substantial experience of providing professional HR advice within a complex organisation
• Confident managing sensitive and complex employee relations casework
• Experience supporting organisational change, restructures or workforce transformation initiatives
• Ability to build strong relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels
• Pragmatic, solutions focused and able to balance risk with business need
• Enjoy working at pace whilst maintaining high professional standards
• Collaborative, adaptable and committed to delivering excellent customer service
• Demonstrate resilience, positivity and a proactive approach to problem-solving

Important Details

• Schedule: 37 hours per week
• Contract: fixed-term
• Contract durations: 12-month fixed-term (Maternity Cover); 10-month fixed-term (Secondment Cover)
