Houseperson (Full Time) - Courtyard by Marriott Nanaimo BC

Hotel Equities, a multi-award-winning hotel development and hospitality management company, is currently searching for a remarkable full-time Houseperson for the Courtyard by Marriott located in Nanaimo BC

Job Purpose:

The Houseperson plays a key support role within the Housekeeping Department, ensuring guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces are maintained to Courtyard by Marriott standards. This position assists Room Attendants with housekeeping operations, delivers supplies and linens, responds to guest requests, and helps maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for guests and associates.

The Houseperson contributes to overall guest satisfaction by providing prompt, professional, and courteous service while supporting the efficiency of the Housekeeping team.

Responsibilities

• Shifts for this role will range from mornings, mid-shifts, and evening work including closing at 1am. Priority will be given to applicants with availability to work across all shift times.

• Maintains the overall cleanliness of the hotel’s public spaces by thoroughly cleaning all assigned areas daily.

• Cleans public areas, including floors, elevators, lobbies, hallways, vending areas, service areas, stairwells, the health club, outdoor walkways, gardens, pool, and entrance areas.

• Cleans and polishes floors, windows, mirrors, vending machines, and ice machines. Vacuums, shampoos, and removes gum spots from carpets as required.

• Removes all litter from public spaces.

• Maximizes job efficiency and maintains an orderly appearance by keeping the supply cart organized and correctly stocked.

• Ensures hotel equipment is repaired promptly by reporting all maintenance requests in a timely and efficient manner.

• Properly maintains the daily log, including accounting for completed tasks, tracking issued keys and reviewing the communications log and file on a routine basis.

• Takes every opportunity to impress guests and promptly responds to and resolves guest complaints.

• Smiles, makes eye contact, and greets guests immediately during each encounter.

• Maintains privacy and security by properly announcing entry and servicing guestrooms as appropriate.

• Follows the correct procedures for entering a guest room.

• Keeps voices and other noise low on guest floors, especially in the morning.

• Follows all applicable company standard operating procedures.

• Completes work projects as assigned by the supervisor and management.

• Performs other cleaning duties as required.

Skills

• Work experience as a Room Attendant or Houseman/Houseperson is required

• Experience with industrial cleaning equipment and products, WHMIS certification an asset

• Good physical health and stamina

• Flexibility to work in shifts

• Ability to work with little or no supervision while meeting high-performance standards

• Excellent organization skills

• Ability to follow instructions

• High school diploma is a plus

This position involves continuous movement, regularly bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying, and moving up to 25-50 pounds.
