About the role
Duties
Incumbent must possess and utilize the following skills and knowledge while performing housekeeping duties in a specified area and within established time frames. With minimal instruction, performs cleaning and related duties to include but not limited to: sweeping; dust, damp and wet mopping; scrubbing; stripping, refinishing, buffing floors; vacuuming carpets; spot washing; empties trash and wastebaskets; replenishes housekeeping supplies; cleans restrooms, bathrooms and showers; moves and arranges furniture, patient wardrobes, and beds to accomplish cleaning tasks; provides bed-making services; on occasion move all types of furniture, accessories, beds small non-mechanical items using proper tools. May be assigned to perform duties through the Medical Center to include but not limited to normal cleaning duties such as: Cleans stainless steel cabinets, counters, and elevators; transport general refuse, regulated medical waste and recycling; cleans ash trays, smoke stands and water fountains; cleans carpets using a carpet extractor, strips and refinishes floors as needed; provides interim cleaning of windows from the inside; provides patients services to deliver food and pick up soiled trays before and after meals. Incumbent selects and uses special cleaning agents and germicidal solutions to remove stains from a wide variety of surfaces. Incumbent must be able to understand and follow instructions, may be required to operate a variety of heavy power machines such as scrubber, buffers, and vacuum cleaners.
Qualifications
Experience: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C.
