DEFINITION:
The Hospice Aide is responsible for providing personal care services to the terminally ill hospice patient as needed, under the direction of the RN. To provide assistance and understanding to the family and in time of bereavement. To work as a member of the Hospice team in providing Hospice care within the guidelines of the care plan.
REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS (IF APPLICABLE):
Must be Certified as a Home Health Aide in the state of Oklahoma or have a valid Oklahoma Nurse Aide certification and obtain a Home Health Aide certification within 30 days of hire.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Two years of hospital experience preferred but may not be required; may consider school attendance record and performance record; prefer some knowledge of procedures, treatments, and techniques; some units may require additional skills or credentials.
Have a command of the English language; have knowledge of nursing procedures, treatments and techniques and must know basic charting procedures.
Must be CPR certified on an annual basis.
Should have qualifications and abilities similar to those personnel providing comparable services in the hospital.
