Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging and comprehensive history lessons aligned with curriculum standards, covering various historical periods and themes
• Develop creative lesson plans that incorporate storytelling, multimedia resources, and interactive activities to captivate students’ interest
• Assess student progress regularly through quizzes, essays, projects, and class discussions, providing constructive feedback to support improvement
• Foster an inclusive classroom environment that promotes respectful behavior, active participation, and collaborative learning
• Mentor students individually or in small groups, offering guidance on academic challenges and encouraging their curiosity about history
• Implement effective behavior management strategies to maintain a positive learning atmosphere conducive to student success
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary projects that enhance understanding of historical contexts and their relevance today

Requirements

• Proven experience in teaching history at the middle or high school level, demonstrating strong classroom management skills
• Background in mentoring or tutoring students to help them achieve their academic goals
• Knowledge of journalism techniques can be an asset for guiding students in research and writing assignments
• Experience working with special education students or implementing differentiated instruction strategies is highly valued
• Excellent communication skills to clearly convey complex historical concepts and foster open dialogue with students and parents
• Familiarity with behavior management practices that promote a respectful and productive classroom environment
• Organizational skills necessary for planning lessons, grading assessments, and maintaining accurate student records
• Additional expertise in subjects such as math or creative writing can enrich interdisciplinary teaching approaches
