About the role

Duties

The primary purpose of this position is to install, maintain, and repair electric power controlling equipment and/or distribution lines. 

Major Duties

·        Serves as a member of an electrical team or line crew.

·        Perform basic check for continuity, resistance, voltage, opens, shorts, insulation breakdowns, and grounds.

·        Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment.

·        Uses and maintains various hand and power tools.

EXPERIENCE: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C; for additional information click here.  Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must meet any screen-out element(s) listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which applying.  Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

·        Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (Screen-out Element 1)

·        Knowledge of Electrical Equipment (Element 2-B)

·        Theory and Instruments (Electrical, electronic) Used in Shop and Trade Practices (Element 25-D)

·        Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) (Element 25-E)

·        Ability to Use Electrical Drawings (Element 75-J)

·        Ability to use and Maintain Hand Tools (Electrical Work) (Element 81-B)

·        Trouble shooting (Element 96-A)

 

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE**:** Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.  You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
