About the role

Job Summary
Durand High School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a High School Academic Intervention Paraprofessional. In this full-time role, you will work closely with students who require additional academic support, helping them to achieve their educational goals and improve their overall performance. You will collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to create a positive and effective learning environment that fosters student growth and success.

Responsibilities

  • Assist teachers in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and academic intervention strategies for students.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students in various subjects, reinforcing lessons and helping with homework assignments.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers regarding student performance and areas needing improvement.
  • Help create and maintain a positive learning environment by promoting student engagement and motivation.
  • Support the development and implementation of academic and behavioral interventions tailored to meet the unique needs of students.
  • Assist in the preparation of instructional materials and resources for classroom activities.
  • Participate in meetings with teachers, parents, and other staff to discuss student progress and collaborate on intervention strategies.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and interventions, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with school policies.
  • Attend professional development workshops and training sessions to enhance skills and stay updated on best practices in academic intervention.
  • Foster a safe and inclusive environment that respects the diverse backgrounds and needs of all students.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree or higher in education or a related field is preferred.
  • Previous experience working with high school students, particularly in an educational or support role, is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents.
  • Knowledge of academic intervention strategies and techniques to support diverse learners.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and take direction from teachers and administrators.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Proficiency in using technology and educational software to support student learning.
  • A commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive educational environment for all students.
  • Background check and clearance as required by school district policies.
