Job Description
The Department of Radiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks a full-time academic interventional radiologist to serve as vice chair of interventional affairs. Academic rank will depend on qualifications and experience. This is a tenure track position. Qualified applicants should be certified in Interventional Radiology/Diagnostic Radiology (IR/DR) by the American Board of Radiology.
The interventional radiology group at UAB provides services and oversight at the University Hospital and Children’s of Alabama, as well as adult and pediatric outpatient clinics and St. Vincent’s East Hospital. UAB Interventional Radiology offers integrated and independent residency programs and collaborates with the diagnostic radiology residency to sponsor ESIR residents.
The Vice Chair is responsible for the leadership of the interventional team and includes supervision and evaluation of faculty and resident performance across all academic missions. This leader will be a member of the Radiology Leadership Council, Radiology Executive Committee and will be expected to provide inspired leadership, with a commitment to academic excellence in teaching, research and patient care.
The Department of Radiology consists of more than 100 faculty members, including 20 physicists and PhD researchers. The division of interventional radiology has eleven full time fellowship trained interventional radiologists, five PAs and four ACGME-approved fellowship training positions. There are 6 dedicated IR suites. There are 36 diagnostic radiology residents, with two positions in each class for integrated IR residents. The department also has ESIR and independent IR pathways.

Required Qualifications
MD, DO
- Board certified or board eligible in Interventional Radiology (IR/DR or DR with CAQ)
- Completion of accredited interventional radiology training (residency or fellowship)
- Eligible for medical licensure in the state of Alabama
