Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic

Duties
As a Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic, WG-5301-11 you will install, maintain, repair, and modify large/complex heating (includes heating boilers and single and multiple fuel power boilers), ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR) systems and support equipment including electronic/mechanical system controls and distribution lines.
Other duties include:

• Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC systems and equipment
• Troubleshoot HVAC systems with complex problems and extensive repairs requiring judgement to locate malfunctions
• Perform essential, electrical/electronic work incidental to the maintenance and operation of HVAC systems
• Plan and lay out work from blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, guides, codes, and work orders
• Install, modify, repair, and maintain large commercial and industrial ventilation, refrigeration, air conditioning (AC), and cooling systems with complex problems and extensive repair

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must meet any screen-out element(s) listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

Part-Time or Unpaid Experience: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid work on the same basis as for paid experience. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. To receive credit for such experience you must indicate clearly the nature of the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the number of hours per week spent in such employment.
