About the role
Role Overview Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Health Care Technician (HCT) provides support to licensed nursing staff by assisting with personal care, hygiene, and activities of daily living for patients. They facilitate communication among departments, visitors, and staff, acting as a public relations liaison for the unit. The HCT performs tasks such as maintaining supplies, cleaning equipment, and documenting patient data accurately. They demonstrate competency in skills including vital signs measurement, blood glucose monitoring, and recording intake/output. Additional duties involve assisting with patient transport, removing lines and catheters, and providing direct patient care as a bedside sitter. The role also involves managing Video Remote Sitter (VRS) systems to ensure patient safety from falls and elopement, troubleshooting camera issues, and coordinating with technical support.
Qualifications & Skills
- HS Diploma/GED required
- At least one semester of nursing clinical experience or recent CNA work within 24 months
- Successful completion of HCT in Training Program or relevant medical military training
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire
- Competency in vital signs, blood glucose monitoring, and documentation
