About This Role

Cooking nutritious and delicious meals that support residents' health and well-being is the core of this job in a compassionate healthcare team. As a Cook, you will prepare and assist with food preparation for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, following specific dietary restrictions and providing alternatives for residents in the healthcare facility.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and assist with food preparation for breakfast, lunch, and dinner
• Follow specific dietary restrictions and provide alternatives for residents
• Follow verbal and written instructions
• Work with and provide care to individuals of a wide range of personality types and maturity levels
• Demonstrate creative initiative and mature judgment in making competent decisions
• Consistently maintain a courteous, empathic, and professional attitude
• Maintain confidentiality of all activities and persons
• Maintain a professional appearance at all times
• Communicate and comprehend orally and in writing to effectively receive and share information as necessary to perform job duties

Requirements

• Some experience in institutional cooking; experience as a cook
• Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation and hygienic methods
• Sincere desire to work with elders and others who have a limited capacity for self-care
• Mental and physical capacity to perform the essential job functions with or without accommodations
• High school education or equivalent (at a minimum)
• Sanitation certificate
• Ability to cook a variety of foods in large quantities
• Knowledgeable of dietary procedures
• Transportation accessible to enable flexibility of work schedule

Nice to have:

• One (1) year dietary experience in a hospital, skilled nursing care facility, or other related medical facility
