Healthcare Controller

About This Role

Controlling financial operations is central to this role, which oversees accounting functions and financial reporting for a healthcare organization. The position ensures accurate financial records, timely reporting, effective internal controls, and regulatory compliance. The Controller works with the CEO, department directors, and other management to support financial goals and decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the organization's general accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll accounting, and financial reconciliations
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Ensure financial statements are accurate, complete, and prepared in accordance with applicable accounting principles
• Analyze financial results and identify significant variances from budget and prior periods
• Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation
• Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes
• Review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and adjustments

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting or financial management experience, preferably in a healthcare organization
• Previous supervisory or management experience
• Strong knowledge of general accounting principles and financial reporting
• Experience with healthcare accounting and reimbursement preferred
• Experience with Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement preferred
• Experience with hospital financial systems and electronic accounting systems preferred
