About the role

Duties

As a Health Science Administrator, GS-0601-15 you will:

  • Keep abreast of all crucial and precedent-setting safety issues within the organization and in the regulated industry as well as related issues in the office.
  • Provide analyses needed by the organization and other agencies to respond quickly and effectively on issues that may potentially become serious regarding adverse events associated with diverse categories of drugs.
  • Provide authoritative post-marketing regulatory guidance to regulated industry to promote better quality and reporting surveillance to assure drug safety for public health.
  • Serve as principal advisor in senior management in the area of regulatory responsibility regarding Post-marketing Adverse Event/ Reaction.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications for Health Science Administrator, GS-0601:

Degree: Successful completion of a full four-year course of study at an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in an academic field related to the health sciences or allied science appropriate to the work of the position.

Minimum Qualifications: In addition to the basic qualification requirement described above, the following additional education and/or experience are required. Transcripts must be provided with your applications based on education. Your application or resume must clearly show that you possess the specialized experience requirements as described below.

GS-15: Applicant must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 grade level in the Federal services to include developing drug safety and post market surveillance guidance, providing regulatory advice on post-marketing reporting regulations and guidance, consulting on post-marketing drug safety initiatives, and leadership in international activities through participation on working groups and other activities.

Documenting experience: In accordance with Office of Personnel Management policy, federal employees are assumed to have gained experience by performing duties and responsibilities appropriate for their official series and grade level as described in their position description. Experience that would not normally be part of the employee's position is creditable, however, when documented by satisfactory evidence, such as a signed memorandum from the employee's supervisor or an SF-50 or SF-52 documenting an official detail or other official assignment. The documentation must indicate whether the duties were performed full time or, if part time, the percentage of times the other duties were performed. It is expected that this documentation is included in the employee's official personnel record. In order to receive credit for experience in your resume that is not within the official series and grade level of your official position, you must provide a copy of the appropriate documentation of such experience as indicated above.

Education

If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in accredited U.S. education program.
