Health Information Technician

About This Role

This role involves managing user records, ensuring their quality, and protecting information and confidentiality in compliance with current laws and regulations. The technician acts as a resource person for stakeholders on record-keeping issues and legal aspects related to user records, and contributes to the quality assurance of these records.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and process requests for access to information contained in the user's record
• Code record elements using ICD-10, CCI, and CIMO-3 nomenclature
• Conduct qualitative study and analysis of user records to ensure the presence and conformity of necessary information for an accurate and complete record
• Complete records
• Ensure proper record keeping according to current rules and standards
• Ensure the application of the policy to the user's record and confidentiality
• Represent in court
• Apply policies and procedures related to access management for various information systems under the responsibility of the archives department
• Collect and interpret statistical data
• Act as an information asset pilot for various information systems under the responsibility of the archives department
• Plan and provide necessary training for a good understanding of applications and normative frameworks
• Develop various statistical/research reports
• Collaborate with information management on data extraction
• Ensure periodic transmission of statistical inputs to the MSSS (Ministry of Health and Social Services)
• Ensure quality control of data in client information systems under their responsibility
• Participate in various committees
• Assist in the development and management of user record forms
• Provide training for medical archives interns
• Collaborate in the development of confidentiality week activities
• Get involved during professional order visits and in various committees
• Provide customer service to CIUSSS staff and users
• Perform any other related tasks at the request of their immediate supervisor
