Head of Performance Marketing - Remote

About This Role

Leading the performance marketing department for a digital agency, this role involves overseeing PPC and SEO strategies for clients across various verticals. The Head of Performance Marketing will manage a team of specialists, ensuring high standards of work and client results. This position is ideal for an experienced leader who can drive channel strategy and manage team development.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the PPC strategist and SEO strategist, including their quality bar, development, and performance reviews
• Define and uphold the standard for all performance marketing work, including audit processes and account reporting
• Ensure client results across the entire function, including the accuracy of attribution and GA4 reporting
• Handle escalations for underperforming accounts, diagnosing issues, directing strategists, and communicating with clients
• Develop channel strategy and budget allocation as client accounts scale
• Define what the agency can credibly deliver to sales before services are sold
• Create the hiring plan for the department and conduct first-round interviews for the team within approximately a quarter

Requirements

• Experience with strategists or specialists reporting directly to you, including responsibility for their reviews, development, and performance decisions
• 7+ years of experience across both paid media and SEO
• In-depth knowledge of Google Ads, GA4, Search Console, Meta, and Microsoft Ads to evaluate work quality
• Ability to discuss a specific account turnaround, including metrics, before-and-after figures, and the reasons for success, with emphasis on your diagnosis
• Comfortable being the client-facing owner for underperforming accounts
• Agency experience managing multiple accounts simultaneously
