Leading legal issues for a fast-growing global fintech in India is at the core of this role. You will advise on high-priority, complex topics, ensuring growth is secure, compliant, and built for the long term. This position suits a legal professional who can turn complexity into clarity and partner with teams across the business.
Responsibilities
- Advise on compliance and legal issues surrounding the structuring of new and existing financial products in India
- Negotiate with external partners on a variety of commercial agreements, including third-party, operations, services, and marketing agreements
- Help to interpret and monitor changes to regulatory guidelines while proactively handling regulatory developments and advising internal stakeholders
- Liaise with specialist external counsel in relation to new products, expansion into new market verticals, and areas of compliance, privacy, or security
- Design and implement processes for efficient and streamlined contract negotiation and operations
- Develop and maintain form agreements, contract management systems, and other databases
- Serve as lead counsel on strategic deals, resolving issues that arise in existing commercial relationships, and handling pre-litigation legal disputes and inquiries
- Drive ongoing compliance review processes, including necessary filings, policies, and procedures
- Provide time-sensitive support on an array of legal inquiries
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in a legal function within a regulated entity in India
- An in-depth understanding of the local regulatory landscape in India and how it relates to digital banks
- Expertise in financial regulations related to payments and banking services
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- The ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced, high-performance environment

- Experience providing strategic leadership and direction while remaining hands-on in execution and with operational details
- A proven ability to navigate complex legal issues and deliver results under tight time constraints
