About This Role
This hairdresser role involves providing a full range of hair services to clients, from cutting and styling to coloring and chemical treatments. The position suits an experienced professional who is passionate about the latest beauty trends and committed to delivering excellent customer service.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert haircuts and styling for men, women, and children
- Cut, trim, and shape hair or hair pieces as per client’s requirements using clippers, scissors, trimmers, and razors
- Perform hair coloring, highlights, balayage, and other chemical treatments like straightening and permanently waving hair with chemical solutions
- Recommend and apply suitable hair care products to clients
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation, and sanitize tools such as scissors and combs
- Keep up-to-date with the latest trends and techniques in hairdressing
- Provide suggestions to clients regarding current hair styles and popular trends
- Ensure excellent customer service and build a loyal client base
- Manage appointment schedules efficiently
- Style hair into dreadlocks and braids and add hair extensions
- Schedule client appointments and collect payments if required
- Shampoo, rinse, condition, and dry hair and scalp with water, liquid soap or other solutions and conditioning scalps
- Demonstrate and sell hair care products
- Ensure that sufficient items such as clean wrap sheets and towels are available on an ongoing basis
- Resolve clients’ complaints properly in a bid to ensure recurring business from them
- Answer clients’ questions regarding barbershop’s facilities and hair care products
- Get signed client information/consent sheet before starting any job on them
Requirements
- Proven experience or qualifications in hairdressing
- At least 1 year of work experience or commercial Hairdresser qualifications
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A passion for creativity and attention to detail
- Ability to pass a drug test and a Ministry of Justice/Police check when required
- Strong client relationship skills
- Exceptional communication skills
- Ability to work on weekends
- Able to work unsupervised, providing a consistently high standard of work
- Preference will be given to candidates who are already in New Zealand and have relevant work experience

Important Details
- Schedule: Normal working hours will be from 9am to 6pm; expected hours no less than 30 per week, maximum 55 per week
- Locations: Auckland City, Auckland (Preferred)
