About This Role
This Growth Manager role is client-facing within a digital agency, focusing on driving business growth for clients through various marketing disciplines. The role suits a strategic individual who can orchestrate different specialists to achieve client goals, ensuring a cohesive approach across channels and effectively communicating results and plans to clients.
Responsibilities
- Agree on a main metric per account with a baseline and quarterly goal with the client within the first 30 days
- Develop the account's growth model, identifying sources of sales and the most cost-effective levers
- Maintain a prioritized list of tests based on expected impact and run them with fixed cadence: hypothesis, test, reading, decision
- Report on failures with the same clarity as successes
- Design an annual and quarterly plan combining necessary disciplines with budget and objectives for each
- Determine whether the problem lies with media, message, brand, shopping experience, or retention, and shift efforts accordingly
- Ensure brand, content, media, and CRM convey the same story across all channels
- Adjust budget and priorities between disciplines based on results, and explain the rationale to the client
- Act as the agency's voice to client marketing, e-commerce, and brand management, leading weekly, monthly, and quarterly reviews
- Present results in business language: sales, frequency, ticket, margin, brand share
- Manage escalations: listen, separate facts from complaints, commit to a date, and deliver
- Decline requests that do not move the numbers or are out of scope, documenting them as scope changes
- Translate the plan into clear briefs for each specialist, defining what and why, while specialists define how, and project management handles dates and deliverables
- Review all client-facing outputs, ensuring they can be defended in a call
- Resolve from day one what data exists, where it lives, who delivers it, and when
- Ensure each client renews and grows with the company
- Identify opportunities for new services, validate them with the client, and support them through proposal (opening and qualifying, while the sales team quotes and closes)
- Monitor the profitability of each account: scope, hours, and scope changes
Requirements
- 5+ years in digital marketing, either agency or brand side, with at least 2 years responsible for a business objective with a measurable number (sales, repurchase, retention, CAC, participation)
- Real experience in at least three of the previously mentioned disciplines, with depth in one
- Managed full accounts or brands, not just a single channel
- Client-facing or management-facing experience, including presenting poor results to senior stakeholders and gaining approval for a plan
